Antimicrobial Drug Development

Antimicrobial development addresses rising resistance with the post-CARB-X funding landscape requiring new incentive models. The session covers gepotidacin (Blujepa) for UTIs and gonorrhea, zoliflodacin in gonorrhea, cefepime-zidebactam, AI-driven antibiotic discovery (MIT abaucin and halicin), the post-CARB-X funding landscape, the PASTEUR Act pull-incentive proposal, and phage therapy with Locus, BiomX, Felix Biotechnology. Discussion addresses WHO BPPL pathogens, antimicrobial stewardship policy, narrow vs broad spectrum, antifungals (olorofim, fosmanogepix, ibrexafungerp), and the global access framework under DNDi and GARDP.
