Antiviral Drug Development

Antiviral development extends from COVID antivirals to broad pathogens with multiple recent approvals. The session covers Paxlovid post-marketing surveillance, ensitrelvir and other 3CL inhibitors, broad-spectrum antivirals (Janus Antiviral Initiative), HIV long-acting injectables (Cabenuva, lenacapavir 6-monthly), HBV functional-cure trials (siRNA, ASO, capsid inhibitors), pandemic-preparedness antivirals (100 Days Mission), and emerging respiratory virus antivirals. Discussion addresses Paxlovid rebound, post-exposure prophylaxis, the comparison of mAb vs small-molecule antivirals, RSV antivirals (sisunatovir), monkeypox antivirals, and the global access framework.
